For Online Computer Support, Ask a Computer Technician
Thanks for using JustAnswer. My name isXXXXX will do whatever I can to answer your question
before I can reccomend something for you I need to ask a few questions
do you prefer a laptop or desktop?
what is your budget?
Between $500 - $1500
my first reccomendation would be if you can wait until black friday which is around thanksgiving
and system that you would get would be 20 - 30% cheaper
which means you would be able to get a better system for your budget
do you have a particular brand preference or are you looking to my experties?
Hp, I've always used that brand and have never been disppointed with it
just looking at the hp site.
i would recomend starting with these specs
at least Quad I5
but can be an I7
I7 is the latest
but I5 will be enough for your needs
I would reccomend
sticking with windows 7
because windows 8 is full of bugs still
you will need at least 4 GB
would be better
the more you have the more programs you can have open at once
and the faster the machine will run
you are best off with discrete graphics
that means the machine doesnt use the built in graphics but has a separate graphics card
which they install for you at the factory
for hard drives
the standard is 500GB or 1TB these days
that is plenty of space
I have a 1TB full of music and videos/games and its only about 20% full
so you will never run out of space
Memory and hard drive are always easily upgradable
here is one I found off hand that has all of these specs and more
for a monitor
you should be able to use your old one if you have it
should be compatible
but I would reccomend getting a newer one
if you want to take advantage of all of the latest specs
such as HD
and blueray/ ect..
any questions so far?
I actually had in mind to use my new tv as a monitor, that's why I'm looking for a desktop
No, actually that's perfect, the computer you showed me is exactly what I'm looking for.
do you know what ports the tv has off hand?
Had the hdmi and usb ports,
the video card in this computer has HDMI
so that would be the best option for the best quality
if you want to use that
if you need further assistance I will be happy to provide it. Otherwise please rate my service when you are ready
