Is there a way you can help me reset the password XXXXX my computer

Resolved Question:

Is there a way you can help me reset the password XXXXX my computer when I don't have access to another computer? Some how the password XXXXX reset on both my laptop and desktop on the same day. I do not have a password XXXXX disk. I do have system recovery discs. Operating win 7.

No. It happened after the computer did an update. Both my laptop and my desktop did the same thing on the same day.

That is strange.what is the message you get after entering the password ?

It says the password XXXXX XXXXX

Are you in front of the PC now?

Have you tried logging in safe mode?

Customer:

Yes. It's still asked me for a password XXXXX says it is incorrect.

have you tried the password XXXXX and without the caps lock?

No. Should I try that?

Restart the computer then press F8 repeatedly. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears then you will get Advance boot Menu on the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight the last know good configuration and then press ENTER.

then try to login

The option left is to restore the computer to factory settings but this will erase the data on the PC and then re-install windows,drivers and applications that came with the PC

I have nothing saved on here of any real importance. Resetting the machine is fine with me.

Turn on the pc then press ALT + F10 key when see the e-machine start-up screen that will open recovery window see if you can access that and let me know

I have an edit boot options screen up.

what all options does it show?

Customer:

It says edit windows boot options for windows set up then it says path Windows system 32 boot when load.exp then it has a lot of other information

I have the option of entered to submit an escape to cancel

Now I have a screen up that says the machines recovery management it's asking me to select restore type

It's giving me a screen of restore Progress. Well this same method fix my laptop too?

No I did not try the last known good configuration

OK do you have any important data on the laptop because like i mentioned before the process will erase it and then only it will re-install windows,drivers and applications that came with the PC

Nothing I can't live without. I will have to reinstall my security system through Frontier.

Same thing on my desktop

OK then connect that laptop to the power adapter and shut down the laptop

Which is the operating system installed in the laptop ?

OK did you connect the power adapter and turn off the laptop?

OK now try the same step you tried on the desktop PC to start the process and let me know

I'm going to try it again. I got something that sound like an alarm going off.

OK that is because you are holding one of the key

Should I just hit those two keys and release them?

right after you turn on the laptop.press and hold the alt key then immediately press the F10 key repeatedly. do it before windows loading screen

The screen that came up under edit boot options. It says no execute equals option

My desktop is installing in the VGA 3-D version driver. It looks like step three of 24.

I believe I created them from the laptop

The desktop is up to 23 of 24

OK insert the first disc in the laptop drive then restart the laptop and press F12 key repeatedly

I press the escape on the laptop. I now have a window up that says Windows boot manager. Windows 7 is highlighted. It says to specify an advanced option for this choice, Press F8. It then says tools and Windows memory diagnostic

before we do that once again go to main menu

once again check for D2D Recovery at the bottom of the screen

OK then go to exit menu and save and exit from bios setting that will restart the PC immediately try the ALT + F10 key

Should I use completely restore system or restore operating system and retain user data

if you do not have any valuable data then i suggest restore system because that will give you just like new laptop
