Hello, I'm not quite sure who to ask about this....

I have recently bought a Logitech webcam C170. I haven't been able to get it to connect to my computer until today, because our USB ports are playing up at the moment. My brother is trying to fix that issue.
Anyway, today I plugged the webcam in, because the USB port seemed to be working a bit better than it was. My computer made a sound to tell me that it is connected. When I eventually downloaded the program that came with it, the light of the webcam turned on. Unfortunately the screen just appeared black, and only the mic worked.
I have tried fiddling with all sorts of settings, and nothing has changed.

Can anyone help me out?
