Mark :

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer. My name is Mark and I will be your expert today.

Mark :

When Staples sold you your computer, did they do any preconfiguration for you?

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

Anyway you could call us?

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

They were trying to a data transfer on a new computer they sold us.

Mark :

Unfortunately, JustAnswer's policy restricts our conversation to this chat.

Mark :

Okay, there are two ways to have this resolved. The easiest, though not necessarily reliable, is to call Staples and ask for the password.

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

Said hard drive was too old.

Mark :

That's not true, unless the hard drive is broken.

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

They are closed. We need it for our store that opens at 7am.

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

Its dry cleaning software

Mark :

If they are unable to do so, the second method to resolve this is to reset the password using a third party application.

Mark :

Were they able to successfully migrate the software to your new computer?

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

No said it was too old need new cords that take 4 days to arrive

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

Need to be in businesses tomorrow

Mark :

So you are trying to access your old computer again, or the new computer that is missing the software?

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

new one

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

just need to get passed psssword that they did not tell me

Mark :

Okay, do you know which version of Windows it's running? XP, 7, or 8?

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

8

Mark :

Did your computer come with a Windows Recovery Disc, or have an option to boot into Windows Recovery?

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

Looking for disks. I may have left them someplace. I sent someone to look.

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

Not sure. Looking for disks. But it will be 20

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

Not sure about disks. Looking but it will be 20 minutes until they get back

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

Not sure how to do revovery

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

Not sure on either

Mark :

Well, I might have a quicker way.

Mark :

Please follow the steps as outlined in this video. It may be difficult to understand, but there are subtitles in place.

Mark :

You will have to download the software mentioned in the video on another computer.

Mark :

You will then create a "Live CD" on either a blank disc or on a USB memory stick.

Mark :

You will then insert the disc/stick in your new computer and follow the steps to reset the password.

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

Ok

JACUSTOMER-umvgvd78- :

I will try

Mark :

This should work for you, but if it doesn't just let us know and we can continue to work with you.
