Can get my Lenovo W770 headset to work

Customer Question

Can get my Lenovo W770 headset to work after it worked the first time.  I have installed and reinstalled the driver several times.  I have set the headset as default in the Sound settings.

Chris R :

Hello my name isXXXXX and I would be happy to assist you today.

Chris R :

What exactly is not working?

Chris R :

Both the sound and microphone?

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Correct.

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

You there?

Chris R :

I see that this is a wireless headset.

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Yes

Chris R :

Have you checked to make sure that it is not a power issue?

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

It worked the first time I plugged it in. The drivers installed automatically and sound was great. It is fully charged

Chris R :

If you would like me to double check your settings I can do that.

Chris R :

How long after using the headset did it stop working?

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

The next time I tried to use it. The first time I used it for about 30 mins. What settings are you talking about. I set the Sound to default to this headset in Task Manager

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

The driver shows up as installed without issues in Device Manager

Chris R :

I was just going to look in the Sound Controls within the Control Panel

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Ok.

Chris R :

I am not sure if these are the same settings you are referring to

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Yup same ones - I think.

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

I can bring up the control panel once again - tell me what to check

Chris R :

You have a green check mark next to your headset correct?

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Yes

Chris R :

Have you run a test of the audio by right clicking the device and selecting TEST?

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Yes = no sound

Chris R :

Does green bars light up indicating sound?

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Yes

Chris R :

If you play a music or some other audio on the computer do you see the green bar move?

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Yes

Chris R :

It almost seems to me as though the volume is muted

Chris R :

or set very low

Chris R :

Have you looked at this?

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Where is this set?

Chris R :

If you double click the device you should see a new window with tabs at the top

Chris R :

It would be under Levels

Chris R :

do you have that tab?

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Its set to 100%

Chris R :

Does the speaker icon show a red mute circle?

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Nope

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

The volume is all the way up there too

Chris R :

Well in that case it doesn't sound like any of the settings

Chris R :

I did not pull up all the info for your headset

Chris R :

how is the base connected to the computer

Chris R :

Is it USB?

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Yes

Chris R :

I am not really sure what else to check

Chris R :

It sounds like you covered all the basics

Chris R :

Device manager shows no problems

Chris R :

Sound levels are fine

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Nope

Chris R :

I hate to say it, but perhaps it is a faulty headset

Chris R :

ofcourse I can not say that for sure

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Its brand new. It worked just fine when I first plugged it in.

Chris R :

Is there a mute button on the headset itself somewhere?

Chris R :

Yes, sometimes even when they are brand new they are faulty and die quickly

Chris R :

It is rare for that to happen though

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

No mute button. I guess I will have to return this one.

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Ok. Do I still get charged for this conversation?

Chris R :

If it were me, I would not know what else to do

Chris R :

No in this case you are not obligated to to accept the answer for this session

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :

Ok, thanks. Bye.

Chris R :

If you prefer I can open this up to another expert

Chris R :

it couldn't hurt to get another opinion

Chris R :

before you send it back

JACUSTOMER-749vd6dl- :
