Hi, I will assist,

Yes, that is correct. It could also be the name of any other computer or network device on your network/router that you are connected to.

Please let me know if you have any further question. Thank you

So every website that you get on, the netstat command is going to list the name of the remote computer that you are connected to, which is the webserver right.
Expert:  Viet - Computer Tech replied 1 year ago.
Yes, that's right; that's its function. Thank you
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Is the local address and the local port number used to identify the local computer when the local computer is communicating with the internet.
Expert:  Viet - Computer Tech replied 1 year ago.
Yes, it's for internal network only passing through the router/your internet ip address; the local address/port is for identifying the local computer and/or your router when it's communicating with the internet. Thank you

Is the port number under foreign address used to identify a particular remote computer like a webserver.
Expert:  Viet - Computer Tech replied 1 year ago.
Actually, a port number identifies a service/application on the webserver, such as port 80 for web pages, port 25 for emails, port 21 for FTP file server, etc. Thank you
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
So I am assuming that the application that is served on the webserver, that port number under the foreign address would identify that application that is served and running on that webserver right.
Expert:  Viet - Computer Tech replied 1 year ago.
Yes, that's right. Thank you

THE PORT NUMBER THAT IS LISTED UNDER THE LOCAL ADDRESS, IS THAT PORT NUMBER USED TO IDENTIFY THE APLLICATION LIKE INTERNET EXPLORER ON A LOCAL COMPUTER.
Expert:  Viet - Computer Tech replied 1 year ago.

Hi,

I'm sorry, I was away when you have an additional question about the issue from yesterday. Yes, that is correct. Specifically, if you use the command netstat -b , it will tell you the ports with the application / program executable file.

Please let me know if you have any further question. Thank you

My question is,when you have a computername listed under the local address, is the computername going to correspond to the local IP address of the local computer.

When it saids local host under foreign address, is the local host going to correspond to the IP address of the remote computer which is the webserver.
Expert:  Viet - Computer Tech replied 1 year ago.
Can you copy & paste a result after using the command, so I can check? Thank you
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
