My Inspiron M5030. will not boot. It keeps repeating 5 beeps and the screen stays blank. What can I do? Mary

Hello. Thank you for the question. I will be happy to assist you.

Techie_Ben :

Five beeps on a Dell M5030 during startup indicates a real time clock failure and can be fixed by replacing the CMOS battery. This is a very inexpensive fix, but you may want to bring it in to a repair shop if you are not familiar with replacing the CMOS battery, as this repair requires removing the keyboard and palm rest on the machine.

Techie_Ben :

The cost of the battery is less than $10 and the cost of repair shouldn't be much more than that.
