Is there a way to automatically turn my computer off at a given time?

Techie_Ben :

Thank you for the question. Yes, there is. You can create a scheduled task to shut down at a certain time. If you'd like, I can do a remote session with you and set this up for you.

Inadequate answer.

Are you not wanting to do a remote session where you can watch me set this up on your computer?

If I give you the instructions, are you willing to still work with me?

No.. Iwould do it myself,, Sorry!

Yes, you can do it yourself. Some folks prefer the other way. Here's what you need to do:

1) Create a file on your computer called "shutdown.bat". You can put it right on the desktop

2) Edit the file and insert the text from this screenshot

3) Make sure you edit the second line of the script to shut down at the time you want. The script by default has "22:00" which is 10PM. You can change this to any time you want (ie - 13:00 for 1PM, 16:00 for 4PM, 00:00 for midnight, etc..).

4) Right-click the file and select "Run as Administrator" and the schedule will be set, your computer will shut down at 11PM every night.
