sandy : do you have any other antivirus program on the computer? like Norton, mcafee, ca, webroot or other?

i do not see ANY antivirus programs when i go to start/all prpgrams but MSE and other similar programs are lurking in the background somwhere.

i tried earier today to access a credit card website and was blocked becaue they said an attempt was made to access my account from a known fradualent website. I then checked MS Securty Center and saw that Antivirus protection is turned off. Next when to MS Security to download Security Essentials and got the error code 0X8004FF83. The when to MS Fixit Site and got another error code. Went back to MS Support Site and did some work backing up and restoring the registry and tried some work in safe mode but nothing has worked.

I believe your computer is infected with a malware.


I suggest you to scan your computer using the free version of anti-malware software. This will remove all of the malwares, spywares, viruses from the computer.


Note: If you have Anti-virus programs like Norton, mcafee, CA, kaspersky installed on the computer, still I suggest you to download and install Malwarebytes as the Anti-virus program does not remove Malwares generally.

It will take around 10-15 minutes to scan. Once the scan is complete. You will see a link, "Select All". You will click "Select All". After that you will click "Remove Selected"

Then you will see a pop up with options, Yes or No. Click Yes and this would restart your computer.
