Customer Question

I HAVE TWO HP PAVILIOH ELITR m9040n desk tops. ONE UNIT HAS A FAULT MOTHER
BOARD, AND HP TECH HAS ALREAEY CNFIRMED. HOWEVER, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I
CAN REMOVE THE HD AND RUN IN ON THE OPERATING UNIT AS AN ADDITIONAL HD?
POSSIBLY WIH SOME TYPE OF A B SWITCH. THAT WAY I CAN ACCESS ALL MY FILES
FROM MY HD.

Ok.

What you need to do is as follows:

1> Remove the working harddisk
2> Not down whether it is SATA or PATA.. because connectors will be different for both.
3>Now you have two options. Connect the harddisk as a slave drive or even better option is to get an external casing. They look something like this

They are cheap and will be available in any good computer store nearby.

4>insert your harddrive into the casing.It will act like an external harddrive.

5>Plug it into the usb port and retrieve your data.
