Hi. What does it mean to constantly get these weird error messages. They're either from Microsoft or McAfee, but they always request to "send a report".
Hiya, My name is XXXX XXX will be assisting you with your issue today. I will help you to the best of my ability.
How are you?
Oh I just helped you before hahaha, sorry I didnt see till now
When the "send a report" comes up does it say whether it comes from windows or mcafee?
Sometimes it's from McAfee, other times from Microsoft. Truthfully, I get alot of these when I'm on AOL. I've finally created a gmail address because of my "iffy" history with AOL. But I got a call from a gentleman (Indian gentleman, heavy accent) saying my computer is compromised because I've sent many error messages. He would not identify himself enough for me, kept saying your service provider. I believed him but it kind of spooked me a bit.
Nope dont believe that for a min
Those companies tell you that they are affiliated with microsoft but they really are not
They will try to get you to use programs like LOGMEIN to control your computer
They will fool you into thinking you have thousands of issues when you have none
They are mostly known for PLANTING a virus more than fixing ANYTHING
What kind of program is that? Does that mean they've gotten hold of my phone number and are trying to invade the computer?
He was not asking for control of the machine, just trying to guide me through some search steps.
As long as you DO NOT give them any details of your credit card or any form of payment and it was a call only you should be still ok
What was the purpose of his call?
Real service provider dont cold call there customers ever
That is a warning sign
He said there were many error messages and he worked for my service provider, something like that. He was right about the errors. I got a ton of them, that' s why i have a new computer waiting to be plugged in.
Sometimes just by going to certain search sites it can download a virus to your machine automatically
Yes then there is a high chance that they infected your machine
I'm only using my old one - Dell 9100 - because of test sites i need to use.
I can help you fix your computer right now if you wish
Its fast an easy
Well, I don't mind trying. But I will be giving up this computer within a month. It's kind of dated, of course, and I have the new one - Lenovo.
I am in the virus removal business in a very large way and I have dealt with problems that were planted onto a persons machine and then calling them afterwards to remove it for a fee
This will be shelved soon. What a scam. One must admit that's a good one.
Ok its very easy, download this program called Malwarebytes to your machine
I will give you the link
okay.
are you sending link to email?
Malwarebytes Download
Here it is
Click the large green button that says DOWNLOAD NOW
Thanks. Is there a mega fee for this?
Nope. Thats the really cool thing, I know the tricks of the trade
Its free and works better than any others out there that cost a fortune :-)
Ive been running my own computer business for over 10 years now so I have had to test these programs against the big brands
This one came up on top and found more issues that the others.
It is well known to remove viruses that others cannot
including mcafee, norton etc
Well, I will try it and maybe someone can use my Dell. It's a great machine. Thanks again Mike. You have that blessed name - Michael? My brother has the same name and he's a great person too. I think my relationship with McAfee has a time limit as well. Thanks again and I will be contacting you I'm sure in the future.
There is an option to buy it but remember that you do not NEED to
You can bypass it
very good, your welcome :-)
i have the link. time for another review?
Yes if you are happy with my help
you've really set my mind at rest today. thank you, gracias !!!!!
Anytime and im always here for you if you need me :-)
