I have been contacted by a person by telephone advising me that they are the legal department of microsoft and that my computer IP address has been hacked and they must have access to correct this problem. How can I check if these people are who they say they are. They wanted me to give them access through a website www.ammyy.com

Hi, and thanks for using JustAnswer.Add this page to your Favorites/Bookmarks first, so as to get back to me anytime later on, if needed. That was a bogus service, and NOT from Microsoft. Microsoft will never place unsolicited calls unless you specifically ask them to, such as requesting a support case.If you purchased any sort of service from them, or provided them with your CC details, please get in touch with your CC department immediately, and notify them about your situation; also, don't communicate with them any further. One more thing I would like to advise you about - there are a lot of rogue, fake security programs/services out there which will prompt you with false security alerts in order to trick the user into buying their programs. If you run into any of these programs/services at anytime, and are not sure if they are legit or not, just open up a search engine, i.e. Google, Bing, etc., and type in the concerned service's name. In the search results that comes up, you will be able to determine from the first couple of results itself, if it is rogue or not. Hope it helps.Regards
