I can't get the sound from downloading files sent to me by my Zumba instructor in download.com. My IT guy at work told me to try a music CD. I see the CD icon come up when I load it but not sure how to get it to play. I'm must be using wrong terminology to look it up in help

Hi my name is XXXX XXX I can try to assist you.
To play a music CD on a Windows XP machine, you would normally go to Windows Media Player
You can simply click on Start, My Computer, then choose the CD drive (usually D drive)
Now double click on a song on the music CD and see what happens
are you there?
You can type to me in the bottom right corner of this window...just type in the white space. Then hit Enter or Reply to post your comment
I don't see CD drive on the my computer menu. What else would it be called
It would be called the D E or F drive maybe. usually D
double click on my computer and then the window should open up with your C drive and other drive letters
Nothing comes up on the D drive contents. The C drive says it contains contents that shouldn't be altered. File E says insert CD, which I already have
pop the cd out and see if any of those change
D or E
When I reinserted it I saw the CD icon on the mouse & r clicked & now I have an hourglass which is now gone.
that just means the computer was loading. What about the D drive? Can you double click on it?
Sorry I'm so slow.
I'll try
It opens a new window but shows no contents
And you have a music CD in there?
try double clicking the E drive
each time it says insert a CD into E drive. I only have one place to put a CD in on my tower.
right click on the E drive and see if there's an Eject option
tell me if this pops your disk tray out
when you click eject
Gives me an error message & a big error sound via my speakers. Error encountered trying to eject
try it on D
It worked. Now what
ok, so your D drive is the cd drive
Now, try another music CD. If that one isn't reading the disk you have in there may be a problem with the disk
OK. it's playing. Toccata & Fugue
nice!
Now on to why dropbox won't let me play the downloaded files from my zumba instructor
So that first disk has a problem.
what type of files are they?
does it say .mp3 or .wav at the end? Or what does it say?
Also, what program opened when you played theother music?
I gave my Zumba instructor a CD & she recorded it. Then I asked for her whole play list & she sent me her dropbox files in an email.
Just checked what's playing the CD & it'w windows media player
ok
so the files on dropbox. What type of file are they? Can you tell me the name of one of the songs?
including the .xxx part at the end?
I'm opening it now. Appears all the songs in dropbox are on realplayer. Which I also have loaded on my computer.
that's just the default player for those file types. You should be able to right click on them and choose Open With...then choose Windows Media Player
They're MP3 adio type files
ok try what I posted just above - open with media player.
have you downloaded the songs onto your computer already from the dropbox folder?
Yes I've downloaded & when I played w/ media player. It's playing. That seemed complicated.
great!

Let me check some of the other files. They indicated empty after I downloaded them. Give me a minute
The one I opened showed all the songs & played fine. Thank you.
