Customer Question

both of my mi9cro usb ports are broken - the little metal "pegs" that cable slides into have been ripped out. I reparing / replacing them doable by me, or hould i just bring it in to repair shop? I am reasonably adept at following directions. I also know that I can bring it to FRY's and let them do it for a little bit ore money.

Thanks for that

Two things here make it difficult.

The first is that they are soldered onto the mainboard, and unless you are very experienced in doing this, I would not recommend it as you will very likely burn out the components around the board, creating even more problems (most likely the board would not work).

The second is the ports are not readily available individually online and need to be ordered through a supply which only someone like Fry's or similar computer store will be able to do.

I advise that whilst you have to spend a little $ to have them send this off to be done, it will save you in the long run as it would highly be likely more problems would develop when trying to solder on the parts.

If you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to let me know.

In advance, Thanks for giving a positive rating! Ratings are how I receive credit for helping you today.

If you need further assistance for this problem before or after rating feel free to ask a follow up and I'll be glad to help.

Thanks,

Richard
