How do I move several pictures from one file to another. I need to this in order to transfer them to a CD for development, but having all the pictures in one file makes it too large for the CD.
Already Tried: Everything
Hello and thank you for using this service, could you please be more specific on what you mean by "one file"? Do you really mean to say "one folder"? Please be detailed as to the problem you are having, so I can help you.
Yes, I meant one folder. There are 279 pictures in the folder. I don't have a CD large enough to hold them all on one CD. I would like to split them into two folders.
1) Are you running Windows XP, Vista, or 7?2) Are you burning this CD with just WINDOWS, or are you doing this with some CD burning application? If not just Windows, then please tell me which program you are using.
I am running Windows XP. I am burning This CD with WINDOWS.
With Windows XP, there isn't anything built-in to burn across multiple CD's "automatically". However, if this is just 1 or 2 CD's you are burning , then you can quite easily accomplish by creating another folder right next to the folder you already have on your hard drive with the photos in it. After you create a new folder, go back to the folder with the pictures. Using your mouse (or keyboard) select a number of the pictures. It doesn't matter exactly how many you select, but start by selecting about half of them, because you want to get an exact idea on the size. After you select them, RIGHT click with your mouse on the selection, then left click on PROPERTIES. This will bring up a size for you of the pictures you have selected. Keep doing this until you have a selection of pictures that is about 650 MEGABYTES (MB) or less. To be on the safe side make it less than 650, because you do plan on burning more than one CD.Then, all you have to do is move (cut/paste) this selection of pictures to your newly created folder. Once you have the folders such that there are less than 650MB of total pictures in each folder, you can then select the individual folder (or all the pictures in the folder) and send them to the CD and burn. In this way , the files will fit on the CD.If you are having any troubles or confusion with any of these steps, then do not rate, but just REPLY to me with your questions. Otherwise, a 3 face/star positive rating would be most appreciated. Thanks!technicalcat41096.5010356134
MY problem is I don't know how to select the pictures. I thought I would just have to hold down Ctrl and move the curser over the pictures I want to select, but that does not work as it moves the pictures elsewhere on the page.
Good question! Here is how you do it. Do not use the CTRL key. The easiest is to just use your mouse, and "click and drag" across the files. With the mouse, you kind of have to draw a box just OUTSIDE the files (then drag across them) so that you select them that way. The other more fine/simple way is to click and highlight a file, then hold down your SHIFT key and use the up/down keyboard arrows to select. Either way you do it, just then right click on the selection. Also take care when moving by right clicking to cut then then going right over to the new folder and hitting PASTE. If you mess anything up that way, remember you can go to the recycle bin to recover the files, but you shouldn't have much trouble as this is very simple. Just select, size, and then move.technicalcat41096.5082383912
Noticed you read just as I edited. With the mouse method, I just meant you have to click/drag just outside the files and then "draw a box" across them. Once you do it a few times, you'll get the hang of it.
