Hi there Carlos, and welcome to JustAnswer, I look forward to assisting you today with your question and providing the best answer possible. We can attempt to do a system restore which will reverse the changes the service pack made.To do this, start the computer and keep tapping F8 until you see a menu. From this menu, choose Last Known Good Configuration. This will than attempt to undo what the Service Pack install has done.If you have any difficulties, please do not hesitate to let me know Before You Rate My Service please.
I followed your instructions ,but stopped with a new message:
!!0xc0190002!!5686/99074 (x86_microsoft-windows-comct132-v5.resour...)
Thanks,Can you get back to the F8 menuThen choose Safe Mode with Command PromptWait till the prompt has loaded (this is where you can type)Then type inchkdsk /fpress enter. Let the scan run and when it is completed, restart the computer and try to run Last Known Good Configuration again pleaseLet me know if you still get the error
I am sorry to bother you again but the thing is when the scan is running
stop in the middle.
Its no problem Carlos, and I was wondering why you did not reply or Rate My Service. To confirm, you say it freezes halfway though? How long has it frozen for? Was there an error?
It was frozen for half an hour approx. (the time i was expecting some result in which I did not contact you). What do you mean for if it was an error.?.
May be I did not follow the right procedures.
Thank you
I was meaning if you received an error.1/2 can be normal especially if you have a lot of problems on the hard disk it has to fixHow long in total has it been.If you did it right it should be a blue screen with stage 1, stage 2 ect...
I receive no error.
Would be OK if I try the last steps once more? Because I don't remember have seen the blue screen. The only I remember is started pretty well, every running stage 1 and 2. May be is not quite clear to me
when exactly I have to enter chkdsk/f. At the begining immmediately following the safe mode. I am not a computer expert and sometimes
I don't understand some terms like "Command Prompt". I used the mouse.
Of course Carlos, I am here to help.Do these steps exactlyTurn the computer offThen turn it on and keep tapping F8 until you see a menuChoose from the menu SAFE MODE WITH COMMAND PROMPTLet it load and eventually it will complete loading and you will see a blinking cursor where you cant type. The screen will be black, with white text.Type in chkdsk /fNOTE THE SPACE BEFORE THE /then press enter on the keyboard. If it asks you to restart the computer, type in Y and press enter, then restart the computer and it will run.If you have any difficulties, please let me know Carlos.
I am still waiting for the windows Files to be unloaded, because it will take some time to finish (only has been 10 minutes) I just wonder whether you have any time limit to bear with me, or else would it be possible we can continue tomorrow
Thank you for your patience
No limit CarlosI am on tomorrow so no problem continuing then!
Hello RichieMe
Here I am Again.
I will tell you what it has been happening:
After pressing "Safe Mode Command Prompt" the computer started
Loading Windows Files. That was very quick ,but after that was a message :" Please wait ..." . I waited for one hour approx.
Whay happened next is the screen went black and the CPU went
on stand by and in the screen was saying "No signal".
Is all I can tell you for now.
ok, if this is not loading, then there can be a major issue with the Hard DriveAre you able to choose Safe Mode from the list? and does this load windows?
Yes I am able to chose Safe Mode. But it does the same thing as described before.
ok, then our only option is to reload windows. It is going to remove all the data on the computer, but there is no other option Carlos. If we can do this now, please tell me the model of the computer.
Modle "Aspire L3600"
Mfg date :2008/02/02.
S/N PTSA490X055808091642702.
SNID 808 03722027.
Windows Vista Home Premium
Thank you CarlosAs the computer is starting, press the Alt and F10 key together until you get to the recovery menu. Then follow the onscreen instructions to do a Factory Restore.REMEMBER it is going to delete all data and make the computer new, but there is no way to avoid this. Please let me know how it goes.
I've got the recovery menu but they ask me for a "Empowering Technology Password " and when they give me a Hint I entered, now said is Incorrect.
This computer is fighting us all the way! :-)Try the default 000000
I am sorry but it doesn't work either .
I enter the six zeros as advised. I also tried with letter O.
what was the hint? Which you get with a blank password
The hint was "espero"
ok, you set this password (or the person who owned the computer before you)To mind for me comes the following possibilities?hopedespairHope you had fun on your tripor the Portuguese equivilant?
To tell the truth I don't remember giving this password.
Anyhow whether is a coincidence or not "espero" is the model of my car and is spanish for hope. But suddenly I associated this with the registration plate of such a car. and EUREKA! it worked.
Now I am in the process of working with the instructions.
I let you know as soon the process finishes.
Good one!Let me know how it goes please.
Luckily it worked fine thanks to your help.
A couple of questions before saying good bye.
How safe or necessary is to download the Windows Updates?
I will be very reluctant to do it from now on.
Second Any special care when Downloading from the Internet
Thank you very much again.
You did an OUSTANDING JOB
Reagards
Carlos
Not necessary. In my opinion they only cause problems and I always say if the computer works, no updates.Just make sure you know what you are downloading Carlos. Don't download anything if you are not 100% sure what it is. This goes the same for opening files in Emails. It was very nice to work with you and I am happy about the outcome. If you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to let me know.If you can Rate my service so I received credit for this, that would very much appreciated.Thank you Carlos and I wish you all the best.Richard

It's me again with a new problem:
I can't get rid off the ACER slide showing the diverse characteristc of the computer. It appears right in the middle of a session and I have to move the mouse around to make it dissapear, but it returns again every 10-15 minutes. It's annoying.
