I have a Dell 4600 on which i just installed Win 7. I also have a Toshiba Writemaster DVD Writer Model Sh-S182. The system says the DVD cannot start due to an Error 10. How do I resolve the issue and get the DVD to work again?
Hello. Welcome to JustAnswer, a paid global support site.

You probably need to remove the upper and lowerfilters in the registry.

Go to Start -> in the search bar in the lower left corner of the screen, type in regedit and press enter.

This will bring up the registry editor.

Click on the + on the left of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Then click on the + on the left of SYSTEM

Then click on the + on the left of CurrentControlSet

Then click on the + on the left of Control

Then click on the + on the left of Class

Then click on the folder {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318)

In the "other" window pane (on the right side, the "main" window), look for UpperFilters and LowerFilters.

If you do not, stop here, and reply back to me.

If you do have two listed, right click on UpperFilters and select Delete. Do the same for LowerFilters.

Now reboot your computer.

Upon reboot, tell me if your DVD Wrtier can be detected.

If it cannot, please reply so we can further investigate.

If you can, please rate my answer. Thank you and good luck!
