Hi! My name isXXXXX look forward to assisting you! Do not forget to rate my answer quality before you go. Let's get started!

You need to transfer the pictures over.

There is a Picasa backup option. Go to Tools on the old computer and pick Back up Pictures

If you've never used that option before, then you'll create a new backup set. Pick "Disk to disk backup" and select the external/thumb drive you want to copy the files to (and ensure there's sufficient spce for all of them). Pick "Choose"... Then select your external/thumb drive

Then for #2, pick the Select All button.

Once it's ready, click the "Backup" button. (You'll only be able to see the Backup button if there's sufficient space on the external/thumb drive.)

Once that's done, go ahead and plug that drive into the new computer

It should automatically run (or prompt you to run) the picasa import program. If it doesn't, go to Start menu --> (My) Computer, then double-click the external/thumb drive and double-click PicasaRestore. Then click "Next" to restore the files.

Hi

Then I'm not sure what you are expecting me to do since you can no longer access the old computer, Wendy.

I've given you the steps to copy files off of the old computer. If you cannot access the old computer (I see no mention of that in your question) then I cannot provide you with any other alternate solution except to please seek the advice of a data recovery specialist in your area.

Thank you; be sure to rate 3 or higher.

correct me if i am wrong but i thought one of the beauties of picasa was that you would be able to open for any computer at any time, log into your account and access your pictures. if that's the case why can't i just access them from my new computer or any other computer. yes, unfortunately my computer crashed.

That is incorrect. I'm sorry.

You can certainly log in to your Google account on any computer within Picasa but unless you explicitly uploaded content to Picasa's web storage area which is limited in its size, then it is only on your old computer.

It would be extremely costly for Google to host that much data for users without charging for it.
