Hello, my name is XXXXX XXXXX X will be happy to assist you. I would like for you try one or both of the following suggestions.

Gmail app:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gmail/id422689480?mt=8

Configuring Mail app for Gmail (preferred method):

1. Open the Settings application on your device's home screen.

2. Open Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

3. Press Add Account....

4. Select Microsoft Exchange.

5. In the Email field, enter your full Google Account email address.

6. Leave the Domain field blank.

7. Enter your full Google Account email address as the Username.

8. Enter your Google Account password XXXXX the Password.

Notes about passwords:

  • If you see an error message saying "Invalid Password", you may need to unlock your account by solving a short CAPTCHA. Go to https://www.google.com/accounts/UnlockCaptcha.

  • If you are a 2-step verification user, please use an application-specific password instead of your regular password XXXXX this field.

9. Tap Next at the top of your screen.

9a. Choose Cancel if the Unable to Verify Certificate dialog appears.

10. When the new Server field appears, enter m.google.com.

11. Press Next at the top of your screen again.

12. Select the Google services (Mail, Calendar, and Contacts) you want to sync. To receive and respond to meeting requests on your device, both Mail and Calendar need to be turned on, and New events needs to be enabled in your Google Calendar settings.

To enable 'New events', sign in to your Google Calendar using the web browser on your phone or computer. Go to Calendar Settings > Calendars > Click on the Notifications for the calendar you want to sync. Under Email check 'New events' (and any of the other Invitation settings you want enabled e.g. changed events, cancelled events, event responses), and click Save.

13. Unless you want to delete all the existing Contacts and Calendars on your phone, select the Keep on my iPhone (or iPad or iPod touch) option when prompted. This will also allow you to keep syncing with your computer via iTunes.

If you want to sync only the My Contacts group, you must choose to Delete Existing Contacts during the Google Sync install when prompted. If you choose to keep existing contacts, it will sync the contents of the All Contacts group instead. If there are no contacts on your phone, the latter will happen -- the contents of your All Contacts group will be synced.

Remember, if for any reason you are unsatisfied with my answer, we can continue the conversation until you’re satisfied and Accept my answer. I can address follow up questions at no extra charge and I’m always here to help. Thank you for using JustAnswer!

Greetings Toby

Thanks for the response, still can not get gmail to load from pc or iphone.

Customer replied395 days and 6 hours ago.

Greetings Toby

I tried the solution you outlined above, did not work. I could not get microfsoft exchange to work on iphone. When I reloaded Gmail, it would load but only to May 7.

Any other ideas?

Expert:  Toby K. replied395 days and 5 hours ago.

If you sign in at https://mail.google.com from your computer, do you see all of your email? And when you said your reloaded Gmail, what did you do exactly? Thanks

Customer replied395 days and 5 hours ago.

Greetings Toby

Yes I tried google logon directly a couple of times... still not working.

Currently I have access to any email, May 7 or older, just can not receive or send any email since that date.

Expert:  Toby K. replied395 days and 5 hours ago.

What is the error message you are receiving when signing into the Gmail website?

Customer replied395 days and 5 hours ago.

None, able to login fine... no error message

Picture
Expert:  Toby K. replied395 days and 4 hours ago.

Ok, you can get signed in, so that is good. Do you see mail more current than May 7th in the Inbox?

Customer replied395 days and 4 hours ago.

No that is the problem since May 7 I have not been able to receive or send emails from this account.

Picture
Expert:  Toby K. replied395 days and 4 hours ago.

On the lefthand column (where you see your labels (folders)), click on More to view all of your labels, and then select All Mail. Do you see any mail more current than May 7th? If not, then what happens if you send yourself an email from this account?

Another thing you could try is checking your settings and make sure you don't have a forward or rule setup. You can do that by clicking on the gear icon (righthand corner) > Settings > Filters > check for any filters that could be putting your new messages into another folder.

Afterwards, check for mail forwards by click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

Customer replied395 days and 4 hours ago.

I found where my mail is going...trash folder. All incoming mail since May 7th has been going into Trash

how do I correct?

Expert:  Toby K. replied395 days and 4 hours ago.

There is a filter in place causing this to happen. Go to Settings > Filters, and look for the one is the deleting your mail in the Do This: section of the filter. Once you delete the filter (rule), then your mail should deliver like normal.

As far as moving the mail in Trash back to the Inbox, select the messages your want to move, then press the Move To: (folder looking) icon above the messages, and select Inbox.
