All of a sudden, when I try to view a video (utube for example), all I get is a blank screen (it was green but I redownloaded adobe flash drive and now it is black). I do hear the audio. When I put the cursor on the time line at the bottom, I do see the "thumbnail" of video. Any ideas what the problem is?
Optional Information: Computer OS: Windows 7 Browser: IE Already Tried: The problem is the same on Internet explorer and Google Chrome. I have removed adobe flash and then re-downloaded it and still have the problem.
Hello and welcome to JustAnswer. Please also try Mozilla Firefox which you can download at the following linkhttp://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/Once Firefox is installed, you may also need to install flash player again. Done that test the video with FirefoxC If all of the above fails, uninstall flash player. To completely uninstall flash player, you can use the flash player uninstaller from the following linkhttp://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html#main_Download_the_Adobe_Flash_Player_uninstaller(Scroll a little and download the appropriate version, 32 Bit or 64 Bit)Then try to install an older version of flash playerYou can download the same from the following linkshttp://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_ie/tech/10706/http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_firefox/10707/Let me know resultsThanksRemember, if for any reason you are unsatisfied with my answer, we can continue the conversation until you’re satisfied and Accept my answer. I tried your suggestions and I still have the problem. However, when I tried your item A above and right clicked on where the video should be I do get a list of items but there is not a "settings" item to pick from. I could not find an option to "enable hardware accelerator" anywhere. I installed mozilla, same problem. I uninstalled adobe flash and reinstalled it, same problem. On the suggestion to try an older version, I have no idea what to try from the list since several of them are beta versions...
You can try to install version 11.0.1.152Open the following linkhttp://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_ie/tech/10706/At the upper right corner of the page, which opens, click on Download This VersionIf prompted to run or save, click SaveThen double click on the downloaded file install_flash_player_ax_32bit to start installationOnce installed, open Internet Explorer and try to play the video with itWhen playing a video, if you still get a black screen, try to right click on the middle of the videoA menu should appear as in the following pictureClick SettingsNow look for the checkbox "Enable hardware acceleration"If found, uncheck it and click CloseThen close and re-open Internet Explorer and try to play the video againIf it fails, we will try another option
In trying your latest suggestions, I got the message that I couldn't download the flash version because there was a version of the flash program running, however there was no flash app running, the task manager indicated that nothing was running, so I shut down and re-botted and now everthing is working, I even now get the "settings" choice when I right click on the video, it was not there before and now the window has different choices all together.
So, I think the re-boot solved the problem, I should have tried that in the beginning!
Thanks for the update. In case you notice the problem again, you can first try to disable hardware acceleration after going to settings, which resolve this type of problems most of the timeRemember, if for any reason you are unsatisfied with my answer, we can continue the conversation until you’re satisfied and Accept my answer.
