Hi Please help. My 11 year old son's computer turns on but the screen keeps showing the following message:No signal input orcable disconnected orpower saving.I have checked and the cable is definitely connected. What could be causing this and how do I fix it?
Optional Information: Computer OS: Windows 7 Browser: IE Already Tried: Taken it to 2 computer places. One place tested the thing the whole day and told me there was nothing wrong with it - no cost. The other place said that the memory ram was not fitted correctly and that it was now working perfectly.Upgraded the power supply unit from 440 to 660w Upgraded the graphics card You just hope and pray the computer monitor works the next time you switch the computer on. I have swapped the monitor. still doing the same thing?????
Hi my name is XX XXX welcome to JustAnswer, a paid tech support site.
This sounds like the monitor is plugged into the wrong monitor jack on the back of the computer. When a graphics card is used, the one on the motherboard is not used. Make sure the cable going from the computer to the monitor is plugged into the video jack on the card and not the one on the motherboard. Just try plugging it in any other similar jack except the one it is plugged into.
Do you hear the Windows startup burst of sound even with nothing on the monitor?
I hear that sound when I move the mouse. I have changed the jacks at the back of the computer and it is still giving me the same message.
you need to restart the computer with it connected to the other jack
I cannot restart as there is nothing showing on the screen. I have switched it off at the wall plug and back on again. Still the message flashing and now a blank screen
how many jacks are similar to the one you have plugged the monitor into
There are two jacks that look the same. White with 24 little holes in each.
Please turn off the computer and try starting it with the monitor plugged into each jack. If it doesn't work repeat with the other jack.
Have tried this. Got blank screen fans are working but no power to mouse and keyboard even though the power light on the motherboard is on
and you are not getting the normal windows startup sounds only clicky noise when you move the mouse
no normal windows startup sounds monitor light come on but no boot up into windows
just black screen
try turning computer off, unplug everything from computer except monitor and power cord and again try turning on using each monitor jack to see if you get any video
Ok tried in each monitor jack and no video.
Ok Ed its now doing normal windows startup and is now doing a repair
Has now asked me to restart the computer which I have done
Ok Ed thanks for your help. Looks like it is working now again. Until I try to turn it on again tomorrow morning. Thanks for your assistance and good night.
