Microsoft Office 2010 is suite not a actual program.

In the suite you have Excel, Word, Powerpoint and other programs depending if you purchased home student or pro.

Try the following:

Locate Excel on your PC and open it. Then click on File Open and navigate to where the .xlr file is saved and select it.

Yes, locate a .XLR file on your PC. Right click and select properties from the small menu window.

A properties box will appear click on "Change" and a box will applications will appear. You should see Excel 2010 listed click on it. That will change all XLR files to open in Excel.

Try the following when the Open with box appears, select the browse button. You should now be in the program files folder. Navigate to Microsoft Office and open it. Then open OFFICE12 folder, scroll down and find excel then click on it. Click OK and that should change open with to Excel.
