Customer Question

My email shows I am over the limit and it has been rejecting all attempts to email me. I went in yesterday and eliminated much of my email. I dumped my recycle bin. However, my indicator still shows full and emails are still being returned. How can I get my email to really show how much space has been used? I am not computer literate so I need step by step directions.

Already Tried:
I have deleted much of what was in my mailbox. I haveemptied the recycle bin. The indicator on my email page still shows it is overloaded.

Over-Certified PC Tech :

Hi there

Over-Certified PC Tech :

Who is your email provider? Hotmail? Yahoo? Google?

Over-Certified PC Tech :

Or are you using an email application to check your email? Such as Outlook?

Customer :

rr.com

Over-Certified PC Tech :

And how long ago did you start mass deleting everything in your email account?

Customer :

Yesterday morning.

Over-Certified PC Tech :

Would it be okay if I signed into your email account to see if I can see what's taking up space?

Customer :

Yes Tell me how to do this

Over-Certified PC Tech :

I'd need your login name and password XX get in

Over-Certified PC Tech :

Did you delete your SENT folder contents? This is typically where emails take up the most space

Customer :

XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX 1Rosebudcat

Customer :

I don't know about the sent folder.

Over-Certified PC Tech :

Email addresses don't come through. Can you post your email address BEFORE the @?

Customer :

Brobohn

Over-Certified PC Tech :

Is the email Brobohn AT roadrunner.com?

Over-Certified PC Tech :

or what is after @?

Customer :

kc.rr.com

Over-Certified PC Tech :

Okay

Over-Certified PC Tech :

I see what the problem is

Customer :

Info--I have Time Warner Cable as my service. They use kc.rr.com

Over-Certified PC Tech :

You have an email in your inbox from Charles F that is 8MB large

Over-Certified PC Tech :

you only get 20MB total for all your email

Over-Certified PC Tech :

This is almost half of your space in one email

Customer :

Can you fix the problem?

Over-Certified PC Tech :

You should do something with that email (download it/copy it to MS Word) and then delete the email

Over-Certified PC Tech :

Then delete it from the recycle bin

Over-Certified PC Tech :

which will free up a lot of space

Over-Certified PC Tech :

Then there is one from Ken Jensen that is 7MB.

Over-Certified PC Tech :

Removing both of these emails will remove 15MB of space

Over-Certified PC Tech :

If you go into your SENT folder you can sort the emails you sent by SIZE

Customer :

Can you do that for me and see if the indicator shows I have space?

Over-Certified PC Tech :

You have a lot of them that are about half a MB

Over-Certified PC Tech :

If I delete those emails you can't get them back

Over-Certified PC Tech :

Do you want me to delete them?

Customer :

Yes

Customer :

I need you to see if deleting them solves the problem of the indicator.

Over-Certified PC Tech :

Yes

Over-Certified PC Tech :

it helped

Over-Certified PC Tech :

You're down to 170%, you were at 240%

Over-Certified PC Tech :

So you're still over

Over-Certified PC Tech :

But I haven't deleted the big SENT ones yet

Over-Certified PC Tech :

should I do that next?

Customer :

Yes

Over-Certified PC Tech :

It is working

Over-Certified PC Tech :

I cleared up a lot of space

Over-Certified PC Tech :

But my laptop battery is about to die :(

Over-Certified PC Tech :

You should delete everything in your inbox you don't need

Customer :

What does the indicator show?

Over-Certified PC Tech :

Then delete it from the recycle bin

Over-Certified PC Tech :

It instantly updates the indicator
