Hello,My 2 TB external fell over (dropped about a foot) and now my computer (Windows 7) doesn't see it any longer. I've had the ehd since 2010. My inclination is to buy another, and have the data transferred professionally. Is there an easier solution?Or more importantly, if not, is this even possible? Many thanks!Jon F. Krueger

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer. I look forward to assisting you today with your question and providing the best answer possible.Hey Jon,I'm sorry to hear about what has happened here.Alright when these turn on but unable to access data that is very bad, generally means the drive itself is locked or frozen. The only way your going to get your files off the hard drive is by doing the following:http://www.ransackery.com/western-digital-mybook-open-case-recover-data.htmI have personally used this way to recover my hard drives.(works on all external hard drives).Only other option would be a recovery service as the expert stated above.Glad I could be of assistance, god bless and happy holidays! If you need anymore help please ask, otherwise have a good night and god bless! Travis B.
