how do I access any message/text/contact information from the past on my Skype account history?
Optional Information: Computer OS: Mac OS X Browser: Firefox Already Tried: Everything on the website I thought might work. It is a ridiculous system.
Hello and welcome to JustAnswer. I look forward to assisting you today with your question and providing the best answer possible. Thanks, just to verify. Do you use Skype for Pc, Skype for Mac, or Skype for your phone?
Yes it is for Skype specifically. I want to find out all past conversations, postings, comments, etc. on my account. You can not get in the information out of the Skype site.
Thank you. Could you clarify if you have been using Skype for Pc, Skype for Mac, or Skype for your phone?
skype for mac
skype by mac
Thanks. What happens when you start the skype program on your mac. ( not just go to the website, but actually start the Skype program itself) Then, on the side bar of the program. Click History. Do you see any conversations listed there? If there is nothing in your history. Then you need to set Skype to save your history. heres how.
If you have any further questions, please let me know.
Thanks
D.Sandlin
Mr. Sandlin: This information has gotten me closer to my answers. However, to clarify the conversations/texts, etc. are on the MAC, and must be saved as you stated below to the Web page. My concern is there any information that automatically gets placed on the website that I may not have seen previously. For example, I have woman listed on my contacts list who I have never met nor known of, but my wife thinks something is going on b/w her and me. Well that is impossible since I have never ever communicated with this woman and she cannot be contaced on the contacts page b/c she is a dead connection. My concern is that I want to demonstrate to my wife that there is no communication that migh exist on SKype internet. TOO MUCH DETAIL, but I wanted you to understand why I am trying to confirm if the information sharing is both ways -- computer software to internet site and internet site to computer software. If I can rule out the the latter officially then we have made the full loop on the situation. Does this request make sense?Thank you for your patience.Scott
Skypes online software, doesnt save your conversation details.. The only records are kept locally.. On your mac, pc, or phone. Skype online will not, and does not save a copy. That being said I think I can help with the mystery contact. Anyone can call or contact you. And your not the first person who has random people show up on their contact list.. Your skype account could be offline, and if someone random tries to message you or video chat you, its going to show their name and details in your history.. Here is a page with many many skype users reporting the same thing that has just happened to you. ( and this is from may of this year)http://community.skype.com/t5/Security-Privacy-Trust-and/Receiving-messages-from-people-not-in-my-contacts-list/td-p/400073 Notice that, Even if you set your privacy settings to only allow your contacts to message you.. Things like this can and will happen. Why would someone random want to message you? Usually, its a scam or advertising. A lot of dating and adult relation sites try to collect as many skype, yahoo messenger, and any other messenger ID's as they can. They usually send out fake computer messages to entice unsuspecting Joes's into replying and then ultimately signing up for the website. Adult websites make money off memberships, and this is one of the ways in which they cultivate more members. I hope the page above, and the explanation I gave helps you. You could edit your privacy settings to try and stop strangers from messaging you. But as the link i sent shows you, That hasnt been effectively working for the last two weeks or so. If you have further questions Scott, please let me know. Dustin S.
