Is it asking you for the password XXXXX this page, or similar (the user account login screen):

yes

You have 3 options, please let me know how you would like to proceed (pick one):

1. Use a factory restore to get back into windows, this is the easiest/quickest way, but will erase all your files.

2. Burn a free password XXXXX disk and boot windows from it, this will keep all files. To do this you'll need a blank cd.

3. If this is a recently added password, and you have the Windows Installation CD, you can restore your computer to an earlier date and time when you didn't have the password.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I have a blank cd.

Expert:  Bernie replied 2 years ago.
Ok sounds like you want to try option 2. To do this you will also need access to another computer that is not locked so you can make the cd, I assume that is the computer that you're talking to me from (please let me know if this is not the case).

Download the free password XXXXX program, Ophcrack, click here: http://tinyurl.com/6yzeds

Click the Ophcrack Vista LiveCD > Save the ISO file to your computer > Wait for the download to finish, then, click here: http://cdburnerxp.se/

Install then open the Cdburnerxp program and select "Burn ISO Image" > Add the ISO file you saved earlier to this blank disk > When done, place this cd in the locked computer and restart it, Ophcrack should come up (stop here and let me know if it doesn't)

After a period of scanning, it will display all passwords, write yours down, then remove the cd and restart the computer to login again.

3 users found. my login says no pw found
Expert:  Bernie replied 2 years ago.
I'm sorry for the delay, there was a temporary issue with the site, do any of the other users on the computer have administrator rights, and can you log into them?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

There is Administrator and Guest. PW empty for each. I'm not sure how to get to either of each from the login page.

Expert:  Bernie replied 2 years ago.
Remove the ophcrack cd, then restart the computer and start tapping F8 on the keyboard immediately, a boot menu will come up, on that page pick Safe mode with networking.

Then, at the login page, do you now see an administrator account?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

The login page came back up under my name, not administrator.

Expert:  Bernie replied 2 years ago.
We'll need to use another password XXXXX program, but I need to step away from the computer right now so I will open your question to all other experts again. They will see anything we have discussed so far and you will receive an email notificiation if another experts posts to this page. Thank you for your patience.
