What type of mouse is it, in terms of its interface (optical / wired / wireless / radio / infrared) and the maker and perhaps model # ?

Have you used this mouse before on any other computer? can you try it on another computer if not?

Customer replied 370 days and 23 hours ago.

It is a usb mouse which was used on a different computer. I had first tried a new mouse and when that mouse also would stop I used the current mouse

So, both the USB mice freeze up intermittently.

Is there any action or position on the screen that the freeze-up tends to favor?

I presume you have tried different USB ports and found none of them allow the mouse to work?

Do you have any other USB devices to test the USB ports with? if so, do so, for a fair amount of time.
And, look in Device Manager at the USB entries - are they all in order? or is there ! points or ? marks on any of them?

Customer replied 370 days and 19 hours ago.

In the device manager there are two compliant (I had tried two different ports) mouse shown. There is a yellow logo attached to an unknow device under the tab of other devices. I did try a flash drive in another usb port and in worked well

Delete or uninstall one of those two compliant mice from the Device Manager.
