Welcome To Just Answer!
If auto-save was enabled in Microsoft word then yes!
I just wrote a paper for school and I guess I didn't save it, I need to know how to recover this document. Normally it saves throughtout the process of me writing, today I don't know if it did or not
I see you have Windows 7...give this a try
Then in the tiny search bar on the bottom type..
*.asdExactly like that.. then press enter
It will search throught the auto saved files
Hopefully your doc will be there :)
it says no items match your search
Ok, open up word
i tried searching recent items in word, and searching through all saved documents
Click the circle button in the top left corner
In the bottom of that menu click Word OOptions
Just bare with me friend :)
I don't see Word Options
What version of word do you have?
It's only Microsoft Word Starter that came installed on this computer when i bought it
It should still have word options
Its in the bottom right of the menu
i typed in the search box, word options...
No no, actualy open microsoft word
I did, and i clicked the ? button on the top right in Word
Dont click that one lol hold on ill show you what i mean
Bottom right in the orange
See what i mean?
Ok I think I found Word Options, next to help
I don't have the windows logo on mine, just the Word logo, I clicked that, then found at the bottom, Word Options
On the left of the window click the Save link
At least you found it :)
Maybe I should have also told you that I started my paper on another computer, emailed it to myself, opened it from my email, then continued to write the paper after I clicked "enable editing" so then it went into "compatiability mode." I don't know if that helps you at all
So it was saved when you opened it from your email then
only the first three pages
I have the first three pages still saved, but im missing 9 more pages
I take it the last changes you made are the one on the pc you are using now?
I will still try one more thing to get them for you.
Did you click the Save tab in Word options?
under save, the only box checked is "allow background saves"
Does it list an Autosave location with a browse button?
i dont see one
Should look like this
mine doesnt look like that
Then im affraid those pages are gone my friend.
I would get the full version of Word so this doesnt happen again.
ok nevermind, i found that page, i was somewhere else....one second
Word starter is ok but it cant do half of the things the full version can do including backup your data
Oh ok good
ok under those options, it has the box checked to autosave every 10 minutes, and yes, it shows where the autosaved documents go in the browse box
Ok heres what we need to do then.
And in the search bar type..
ok and a "Roaming folder pops up
Now click MicroSoft
Then scroll down to Word
ok now there is a "Startup" folder or Listgal.dat
folder is empty
Are there any files that end in .asd?
Then it didnt save anythink. Man that sucks
ok, well i guess thanks for your help anyway
now how to do i cancel my account so i dont keep getting charged?

it's not you.....you did everything you could to help me, but unfortunately, it didnt autosave like it should have, so its lost for good
