Have you made any hardware changes?

Ok are you comfortable removing hardware?
Its real easy
have done it before when talked thru steps of what I was removing
Great. Lets turn it over and remove the Ram / Wifi Cover
pulled computer apart; now open
Now remove the top ram stick only
ok, does that have yellow, black and red cables soming out from it?
No its a 2 inch wide green card. There will be 2 of them nearly stacked on top of each other
Now turn it right side up and try to turn it on
still same thing
Ok, now pull the other stick and put that one back in its oridginal slot
try to turn it on again
took blue one out and now its beeping and then same as before
Ok, place both sticks back in.
just beeps and then nothing
I thought this was a laptop lol my bad
Ok do you know what a pci card is?
See the white slots then run sideways?
at the bottom left
ok, yep there are x2 right?
Do you have anything in yours?
ok...thats not good lol
How many ram slots do you have?
How many ram slots are there?
ok, sorry laptop battery nearly flat and had to get power cord!! Are the ram slots the ones just above white ones....iuf yes, x11
No they are more to the right and go up and down
ok, they are slightly above the others and run up/down. there appear to be x5 then a big middle one with a flat top and then x5 on the other side
Hmm. How many beeps when you turn it on?
i'll just turn it on again and tell u
ok. no beeps this time!! just same as before light flashing a bit and nothing on screen.
In the back.....unplug the monitor cable then plug it back in
Do any of the fans run?
ok doing that now just give me a min
not surging at moment. green light on, no screen working but screen light is on
Any fans running?
yes, the one as you look at the side of the comupoter that has a urple bit inside it
Ok that is great news
actually the other one is too
1 of 2 things has happened
1. The motherboars internal video has crapped out
2. the monitor has failed
ok, if its 1. how do i fix that? We have recently replaced the screen as our other one failed
Its probably the internal video. You can get a cheap plug and play video card for like 10 bucks
where is that located, should I pull out the one there now?
Go to any pc shop or bestbuy even walmart i think has them
You will plug it into the white slot that runs side to side on the bottom
Its card a PCI card
ok, thanks. Is there one somewhere in here that i need to remove?
not a thing
ok, so i'm off to the shops and then it should work yeah?
Yes it should. Just make sure the pc is off. plug in the card and plug your video cable into in.
There is a tiny metal bracet on the back of the pc that has to come out before the card can go in. Youll see it. It just pops out.
what does the video cable look like?
write down the make and model of your pc so they can give you the right card
Its the cable that runs from the monitor to the pc
cool. good one
