http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100/ Basically, it involves un-installing .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service pack 1. Then download and use (Run as Administrator) the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, and remove all references to .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service pack 1 (only!). Then reinstall .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service pack 1: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai… Then run Windows Update again
I receive a windows installer message stating that "The system administration has set policies to prevent this installation"
Is this your own personal computer or a corporate machine on a domain?
Yes my own PC
when do you receive this message
When running th MSI methos 1 fix.
Right click on the file and select Run as Administrator
Which file should I right click?
the file you are trying to run and getting this message. Save it to your computer then right click and run as admin
I was trying the 923100 file from microsoft support. It does not give me the option to run as admin.
that is the FixIt option. Please scroll lower on the page and follow the manual instructions
I have tried to both repair and to remove the MS.NET Framework 4 Client Extended and Profile but am not allowed to complete either.
Are you running a user with administrator privileges. You can check this at control panel, users
Yes, it states that I am an Administrator.
I am going to opt out and see if we can find another expert
I'm not sure.
Thanks and hold tight.
OK, what should I do now
The automatic updates have been failing since Jan 12, 2012. In looking at my update history in looks as though framework 4 always fails. When I attempt to downloaded "important" windows updates I receive error codes 643 and 6BB.
Can someone please help me with my windows updates problems?
