The A+ PCTech :

Hi, I'm Ron. Thank you for asking a question. Regardless of the update, are you having usb problems?

The A+ PCTech :

It is a microsoft update not HP correct?

Customer:

It's on the HP site, but appears to be a driver update for the Microsoft Host Controller. I don't know whose it is. It's offered on the HP site as part of the upgrade to 7 from Vista. No problems noted with USB devices.

The A+ PCTech :

That is a HP update.

The A+ PCTech :

if you are not having any problems, it is not necessary to install it.

The A+ PCTech :

Are you still there?

Customer:

yes

The A+ PCTech :

Do you understand what I said?

The A+ PCTech :

If you are still concerned, I can contact HP and get a solution for the install.

The A+ PCTech :

Any manufacture drivers should only be installed if necessary.

Customer:

if it's being offered because the driver caused problems on this machine, whether or not it's manefested, then wouldn't it be best to fix it before a problem develops?

Customer:

That is, on other machines in this model class.

The A+ PCTech :

Not necessarily, it all depends on what components you have.

Customer:

No problems on this one so far.

The A+ PCTech :

It is a general update.

The A+ PCTech :

Only install if there are problems.

The A+ PCTech :

The same goes for all drivers.

Customer:

I'm not the primary user of this machine. Just trying to prevent having to deal with it later when I've moved on to somethiong else.

Customer:

if you don't think it's necessary then I guess it's ok to let it go. just trying to be thorough.

The A+ PCTech :

Sorry I had technical difficulties.

Customer:

ok

The A+ PCTech :

Those update are for systems with a problem.
