Does your CD/DVD drive show up in the Device Manager? If so, does it specify an error code, i.e. 19/39, by any chance?

Okay. First off, please download the following 'Fixit' tool onto your system:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems

Click on the 'Run Now' button to download the same Fixit tool and run it following the on-screen directions. You should be able to get your CD/DVD drive to work all right now.
