I cannot get my browser to open www.google.com. It keeps showing

Resolved Question:

I cannot get my browser to open www.google.com. It keeps showing this: about:blank. I have gone to tools, internet options, and changed it to google, but it is not working. Please advise.

  1. If you use Windows XP, click Start, and then click Run. Type the following command in the Open box, and then press ENTER:
    inetcpl.cpl
    Click the General tab.
  2. In the homepage area type: http://www.google.com
  3. Click APPLY
  4. Click OK
  5. Open a new Internet Explorer window and it will display Google as your homepage

OK first we are going to reset your browser then you can follow the steps to change the homepage


  1. Exit all programs, including Internet Explorer (if it is running).
  2. If you use Windows XP, click Start, and then click Run. Type the following command in the Open box, and then press ENTER:
    inetcpl.cpl
    The Internet Options dialog box appears.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset. Then click Reset again.
  5. When Internet Explorer finishes resetting the settings, click Close in the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box.
  6. Start Internet Explorer again.

Now you can click on Tools, Internet Options then change the home page to Google.

When I try to reset, it tells me to close all windows. If I don't, nothing happens. The only window I have open is this one. Do you want me to close this window also?

If you go to Internet Options change it to http://www.google.com and press APPLY then OK

THEN

Go back to Internet Options immediately, does it show http://www.google.com?

OK close out of Internet Explorer and see if it brings up Google now
