I have a Sony VAIO computer model PCG-2J3L that I bought three years ago this month and in the last week I have been having problems. Screen goes dark and I can not see screen. It will last only 7 or 10 seconds and screen becomes black. I restart in safe mode or in last known configuration but the same thing happens. This has been going on for last week or so. Please advise what I can do since I lived in Laredo 78045. Thanks.
hi my name is XXXXX XXX I would be happy to help
do you use onboard video or do you have a video card
No onboard video or I am not familiar if it has a video card. The computer is also the monitor. I have tried opening it up and after few seconds after it opens the screen goes black. I have tried opening up in safe mode....and the same thing happens. I have checked all connectors and plugs to make sure they are connected. Please help.
it is a hardware issue if it happens in safe mode
it sounds like the cpu is overheating....does the time it stay on ever change or is it always the exact same
could be a bad power supply too
is it under warranty
it could be a really bad system corruption...
You have to use the VAIO recovery center from your start menu
if its turning off too fast that could be a problem
could be the ram...
i hear that bad ram in a via will do this
are you able to get to the ram...do you have more than one ram stick
if so ...try the computer with both of the sticks one at a time so that you test each on by themselves...let me know if there is change or not
it seems that this is an issue effecting many vaio
and they are having ram issues
with same results...computer turns off after a few seconds
here is a great pick of a ram upgrade
