Hello, how are you today?
HI,I'm just fine
You computer repair install went ok?
yes seems to work ok,but DVD won't read the start up CD for ASUS. Don't know why,it read the CD XP for the boot up.
That is strange. You probably don't need to install the CD if everything else seems to be working ok
Now you are connecting a wireless adapter?
yes I got Hughes sat on the main computer and Linksys set up
ok
Is there a model number on the usb adapter you have?
it works ok,now I need the other computer set up to receive
Ok, have you loaded the drivers for the USB adapter into the computer?
EZ connect"9 802.11g wireless USB 2.0 Adapter
no I got no CD
do you see a part number, starts with 98- or 99-

its all grey,no blue tip
I can't down load it on the right computer,no internet?
Ahhh...do you have a USB flash drive?
Or external hard drive, or can you burn it to a CD..
I guess I could try and burn it on Cd.
Otherwise, you may need to connect that other computer to your router directly with an ethernet cable just to download that file
its down loading now
its ziped can we unzip it?
Yes you can unzip it
Here is another document with some setup instructions for your adapter. It seems pretty straightforward, use you get the software downloaded and transfered.http://www.smc.com/files/AN/FAQ_SMCWUSB-G.pdf
its on desk top
now what
On the desktop of the computer you want to install it on?
Or you haven't yet burned the cd
got a plank CD in DVD
I'm surprised you didn't get one with the product...usually they will send you one
do you know how to copy the file to the cd?
When you put the blank cd in and close the drive, did it pop up a menu of options?
not yet
do you have roxio or nero or some other burning software?
Otherwise, you can try to right click on the file and choose copy
I'll look
then go to start -> my computer -> your cd drive letter
And paste the file
then look for where it says write these files to the cd
it says files are waiting to be copy on CD
Ok, you can see the file on the CD and it is faded a little bit?
Do you see write to CD ?
ok got them on a CD
Put the CD in your other computer and copy the file to the desktop
Then double click on it to unzip it.
they are on desktop
Right click on the file and choose extract all
then hit next, next, finish to unzip the folder onto your desktop
it says ext files to pass word
says access deniel needs folder
browse
for folder
I'm not sure how you got there...
Can you close that, and try to just double click on the zip file on the desktop
I hit next, next, next like you said
Well, lets try something else.
You have the file DRV_SMCWUSB-G_v1.0.0.9_(Vista_included).zip on your desktop right?
double click on that file
I did it takes me to screen says brows and password
Right click on that file and choose properties
what is the file size?
browes has different folders to put it in
it says click on folder to take file too
Right...that is where you click next
I just wanted your to choose all the defaults and click next next next finish
Then it will unzip the file to a folder on your desktop
with out picking a folder it says denied
Wasn't there a folder already there when you got there?
Just hit cancel and start again
Open this page, it has a complete walkthrough.http://24.217.29.127/customers/Support.aspx?SupportArticleID=2342#download
its going to my doctments
That is fine, you can unzip it anywhere as long as you can find it to go in and run the setup.exe file from the folder you extracted
At the last screen, check the box to show extracted files and it should open right up to it
its there says click on it to show it
ok, find the setup.exe file and run it please. It is in the drivers folder inside of the folder you just extracted
ok its done,driver installed
Did you plug in the device?
new screen came up SMC
