Hi, and thanks for using JustAnswer.com.

Please go to Start, control panel, programs, programs and features and repair Microsoft Office. If that does not work, please uninstall Microsoft Office, then restart the computer and reinstall.

Please let me know if there is still any issue later. Thank you.

Thanks,
-Viet

The repair did not work and I do not have the disc to reinstall. Any other ideas?

If you go to Start, control panel, user accounts and create a new administrator account and restart the computer and login the new administrator account and use Word, does the issue go away?

Do you still have the Microsoft Office product key? Where did you purchase office previously? Do you have office 2003, 2007, 2010, etc? Thanks.

I dont see how to create a new administrator account. can you give me some additional instruction?

Go to Start, Control Panel, User Accounts, manage another account. More details are at:

click on "My computer is on a workgroup". Thanks.

What are my other options? It says "Microsoft Office has stoped working" then it says"Microsoft word is trying to recover your information". This happens even when I dont have a Word doc open. Vista is my OS if that helps.

Did you create a new administrator account yet?
Please see at:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Create-a-user-account
click on "My computer is on a workgroup".
If all fails, you can upgrade to the latest microsoft office:

and/or use a free office program; please let me know if you like to know about this. Thanks.
