Optional Information:
Computer OS: Windows XP
Browser: Other

Already Tried:
It's been two days now and i can't log in to my msn home page which means i can't get into my e-mail. I use msn.com as my home page and to open my e-mail. I called verizon yesterday and they told me msn was having a problem. If possible, i'd like to get some help.

Robert Preston :

Hi

Robert Preston :

IF you go to hotmail.com and login, can you access your email?

Customer :

yes

Robert Preston :

Ok but msn.com won't load?

Customer :

no and it's driving me crazy. I've been using MSN for 8 years. First time I'm having trouble.

Robert Preston :

Ok what browser do you use?

Customer :

I'm sorry but i don't know, help please LOL

Robert Preston :

That would be Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome most likely

Customer :

No I don't think so, when i log on i just click msn, that's my home page.

Robert Preston :

yes, msn.com is the website...

Robert Preston :

you have to use an internet browser to access a website

Customer :

Ok, now what do i do?

Robert Preston :

I need to know what browser to tell you how to fix it

Customer :

internet explorer

Customer :

Please excuse me, i have a phone call.

Customer :

I'm back.

Customer :

Hello are you still there?

Customer :

Could you please answer, are you still there. I hate to be a pain but I need to get back into my kitchen.

Robert Preston :

Sorry

Robert Preston :

Do this

Robert Preston :

Go to the Tools menu then Internet Options

Robert Preston :

Once in there, click the 'Advanced' tab

Robert Preston :

then click Reset, then Reset again

Robert Preston :

After that restart your browser and go to msn.com

Customer :

I'm trying to reset but it's telling me to close everything out, how?

Customer :

Will i lose you and this page?

Robert Preston :

Yes, just bookmark/favorite the page and then come back.

Customer :

Now i'm really confused. When i hit the reset button, a box comes up and tells me to close everything and the only way i can get to "tools" is through Internet Explorer. What am i doing wrong?

Robert Preston :

What do you mean?

Robert Preston :

You click Reset, then Reset a second time.

Robert Preston :

Once that finishes, close Internet Explorer

Robert Preston :

then restart it

Customer :

Ok again i can't close internet explorer because i need to click tools. Is there some other way?

Robert Preston :

You close Internet Explorer AFTER you reset

Robert Preston :

You don't close it before...

Customer :

This is driving me crazy. Everything is closed except internet explorer so when i get to internet explorer and check advanced tab and then click reset, the box tells me to close all open programs. What the heck am i doing wrong?

Customer :

I mean internet options.

Customer :

You are talking about the reset box at the bottom of the page

Customer :

Please answer, I need to get back to my cooking.

Customer :

Am i being charged one flat rate for this service?

Robert Preston :

Yes

Robert Preston :

That's correct.

Robert Preston :

When you click Reset, just click Reset again

Robert Preston :

you can also try it this way

Robert Preston :

go to Control Panel > Internet Options

Robert Preston :

and do it there with Internet Explorer closed

Customer :

That doesn't work either. I still get that message everytime i click reset. This was on the control panel.

Robert Preston :

You will get the message regardless...

Robert Preston :

You just need to proceed with it

Robert Preston :

Also, you didn't do it right.

Robert Preston :

You never left the chat, so you didn't close Internet Explorer

Robert Preston :

YOu have to close Internet Explorer then go to Control Panel > Internet Options

Customer :

Ok that worked, now what?

Robert Preston :

Ok now try accessing msn.com again

Customer :

I tried and when i click msn it takes me to me e-mail. Should i restart my computer?

Robert Preston :

Click this link:

Robert Preston :

http://www.msn.com/

Robert Preston :

What does it take you to

Customer :

Are you ready for this? It tells me i can't open the page for msn.com

Robert Preston :

Ok sounds like you have a virus blocking your pages then

Robert Preston :

Try this

Robert Preston :

http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/

Robert Preston :

Download that, install it and update it

Robert Preston :

Then do a Full Scan of your computer and remove everything it finds

Customer :

Hi i'm back. There was no viruses or anything else so i'm right back where i started from. Now i knew why my son tells me to buy a Mac.
