1. Click the “Windows Start button”
3. Type “firewall.cpl” and press “enter”
4. Press “ok”
5. Click the “exceptions” tab
6. “Add program” button
7. Select your Minecraft executable the list (you'll need to browse for it since Minecraft isn't installed on the computer, but just has an executable)
8. Press “ok”.
How do you get Windows to unblock Minecraft?
Click the “Windows Start button” > “Run” > Type “firewall.cpl” and press “enter” > Press “ok” > Click the “exceptions” tab > “Add program” button > Select your Minecraft executable the list (you'll need to browse for it since Minecraft isn't installed on the computer, but just has an executable) > Press “ok”.
We were able to follow the instructions until we got to the exceptions tab. After we hit that we don't understand what steps to take to add mineshaft which has not been downloaded because of the firewall. Thanks for the help.
Oh I see, it hasn't been downloaded yet, what happens when you click the minecraft.exe link on this page?http://www.minecraft.net/download.jspDoes it give you a yellow bar saying the download was blocked?Try right clicking the minecraft.exe link on that page and select save target/link as, then save it to your desktop.
Additionally, it may be that the browser is blocking you from downloading Minecraft - if you are using IE, please go to www.firefox.com and install the browser there, then use that to download Minecraft.
