I have a gateway NV55C..Am trying to burn system recovery discs. Every time I insert a Sony CD-R (700mb) the drive spins for a few seconds, then opens and a dialog box asks me to insert a disc to burn. I've tried 4 different discs...all the same response. What to do?
Computer OS: Windows 7
Just keep closing out the program, and starting over.

Which system are you using to burn the disks?
the lap top
Ok, open the website below on your laptop:
ok the laptop has our session
it seems read but I get the message no files to burn
Ok, where are you trying to burn the system recovery disk from?
do I need to open the system recovery program
yes, that's right.
should we have selected burn files to disc in the windows pull down
You need blank DVDs...you are using CDs.
Hope that works....thanks....but I have burned music onto these CDs in the past....it needs a DVD for written information?
That is why the recovery program is not working.
I've also buyrned graphics onto these CDs in the past
Yes, that's right...it needs DVDs for the recovery disk only.
Well, thanks...I'll give it a try...hope it works.
Yes, that's right...you can burn anything on these cds.....they are okay.
It's just this particular program that neeeds a DVD?
Yes, that's right...it's this particular recovery program that needs DVDs to make the recovery disk as the combined total is around 11 gb which cannot be fitted in 4 cds
