Hello, Welcome to JustAnswer! My name is Qin. It is my pleasure to work with you to solve your problems.
When did the error show up? during installation?
I was able to print wireless until I updated the driver on the host computer. Now I get the printer error 0x000003e3 when I try add the printer. The message says it cannon connect to the computer
this is a wireless printer, correct? and what is the brand and model of printer?
HP Laser jet P1006
the issue is due to the drivergive a try to roll back the printer driver in the host computer
let me know if you are ready
go to the host computer
first open device manager, follow this
Click on the Start button and then choose Control Panel.
Click on the System and Security link.
In the System and Security window, click on the Device Manager link located under the System heading.
When device manager is open, follow this
are you still working on this?
just remembered that printer is not in the device manager, give me a moment
in the host computer
click Start, then click All Programs
then click Accessories
then click System tools
then click System restore
I do not want to go back to the previous driver because it was causing the computer to not boot up. Toshiba helped me find that the driver needed to be updated for Windows 7
Then select restore to an early restore point
does the printing work in host computer
The host computer is now working fine since updating the printer driver
But the second computer can no longer print through it
there is workaround on this, a moment
in the second computer
control panel and then devices and printers; Right click does not bring up properties. I am using Windows 7
found port tab
did you see your printer listed there?
OK disabled it
close control panel and try print
does it work?
that printer is not an option. I cannot add that printer. When I try I get the error message and the loading aborts
I have been able to print from the host printer but not via wireless
shall I try adding it now after the change you had me make?
try to add a printer by following this
then finish the rest
let me know if it works
how do I know the IP address
go to your host printer
sorry host computer
no IP list
you can print a configuration page
right-click you HP LaserJet printer , and then select Properties . Click the Services tab.Select Config from the Print Information Pages drop-down menu.Click Print . The configuration page prints.
the IP address is on the configuration page
no service tab
back at creating a new printer port I have the option of Local or standard
here is link to add wireless printer
see the screen shots in pdf file
you can print configuration page from the printer itselt
press the GO button
OK but first on adding a local port it asks for a port name. Is that where you want me to put the IP address?
yes, check the pdf file i just send to you
Press GO button on the printer
should print a configuration page
the GO button will be the second count from the bottom
I'm confused. The file tells how to install for Vista not Windows 7 and when I try to follow it my computer is different. Am I suppose to do this on the host file? Maybe I should attach this computer to the printer?
they are similar. You don;t need to physical connect to printer. Just need the ip addresshttp://www.washburnlaw.edu/technology/howto/clinicvista.php
did you find the ip address?
i have done this couple times
No I did not find the IP
click start, then click Run
then press enter
let me know what ip address there
one of them will be the printer
No Run like in XP when I click start
click start, then click Accessories
then click Run
click start, click All programs, then click Accessories
I am not on the host computer, guess I should be?
that is fine on this computer
OK have windows configuration with wirelss LAN adaper, Wireless Lan adapter, ethernet adapter, and 5 different tunnel adapter
only 2 do not say "media disconnected" and those 2 have IP addresses
try one more time
let me the ip address you find
I am to look for "printer" there is none
Do you think this will work if I find the IP?
yes, can you print the configuration page from the printer itself
my computer does not connect with that printer
when I try to add a printer and that printer name comes up, but when It tries to connect with it a message comes "do you trust this printer" I say "install printer" and it starts to install and then aborts with the message ""windows cannot connect to the printer" I click "details" and it says " error 0x000003e3"
let us try to install the software
click download and install the full software and driver
after that, add the printer again
OK but I tried this yesterday and it didn't help
ok, you have done that
I really need to close. Will I be charged the $38
I will try the software again.
click link for refund
I hope the $38 is for just this one time and will not be charged each month
If you can print the configuration page
No, there is no charge
click this link for refund
I did not commit to a monthly charge, correct?
And you can find the ip address, give a try to install the printer by adding a local printer
I can wait to get the refund if you think you can help me later
sure, you take a break
I will look into this
there should be way to pull out the ip address
will get back to you if i have solution
Find out. The printer is not a wireless printer. but you print wireless through your host computer that have a shared printerHere is solution, see procedure below (also click link here for the source)On this second computer1. Click Start, click Control Panel and double click Printers.2. Then go to File menu, then select Run as administrator, then ->Add Printer. When UAC window pops up, click Continue to go on. 3. Select "Add a local printer".4. Select "Create a new port". Choose "Local Port" as the type of the port. \\5. In the box "Enter a port name", type the address as the following format. \\[IP address of the host computer]\[The Share Name of the printer]Now We need to find both of them on your host computer, follow this:go to your host computerclick Start, then All programs, then accessories, then click Run type cmdpress Enterthen typeipconfigpress Enterthen find IPv4 address, write it down, this is the ip address of host computerthen go to the pritner setting on the host computer, right click this HP printer, select properties, then go to Sharing, write down the share name After that, come back to second computer and type them like this way example: \\192.168.1.0\sharingprinterThen it is good to goLet me knowThanks
