When did this problem start?

I did some research, and this is most likely a virus.Boot into Safe Mode:Reboot the computer, and keep tapping the F8 key immediately when the computer starts, and before you see the Windows Logo. You will see a black recovery console. Select Safe Mode from the menu.Click Start, and go to Programs-->Accessories-->System ToolsClick System RestoreFollow the prompts to restore your system to a date when your'e certain it was working properly. After you reboot, your system will be just as it was at the date you selected.Thanks,James.

Let's boot from the Vista cd. When setup starts, it will offer to repair windows. Let setup run and repair, and reboot once done.
