My Device manager shows I've got yellow exclamations on my ethernet controller, Video Controller and PCI Simple Communications Controller. I thought that if I started with my Ethernet controller and was able to get on-line I could then download the other drivers. I went to the Cisco site on this computer and downloader the zipped driver file for my LNE100TX v 5.1 card onto a USB memory card and tried to tranfer it on to the old computer for installing. But when I try to run the file from the USB drive nothing happens. Unfortunately I played with BIOS settings without knowing what I was doing and possibly affected my setup there as well. Please advise....

Hello, please go in to device manager, right click in the Ethernet controller, and go to the details tab. Under Device Instance, please provide me with the VID & PID and I will attempt to find the correct driver for your ethernet controller.

Your other option would be to install an older Intel card as W2K has the drivers for it embedded in the OS.

Device Instace doesn't seem to be an option. VID & PID? Please advise.....

Customer replied 677 days and 22 hours ago.

W2K?

Expert:  jnlichen replied 677 days and 21 hours ago.

W2K = Windows 2000.

I don't have a 2000 machine around anymore, but somewhere in the properties you will see a string similar to:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10BD&SUBSYS_02111028&REV_02\3&172E68DD&0&C8

Dig around in properties and you will find it. Please provide me this string when you do.

Where do i find the properties to dig around in? is it in device manager?

Yes, go into device manager. Find the network adapter with the exclamation point, right click > properties. It will be in the properties somewhere.

Customer replied 677 days and 21 hours ago.

Device Manager:

Device Status:

This device is not configured properly. (code 1)

So I've attempted to download specific drivers from Cisco site but I've goofed that up. When I select the driver file from my USB drive nothing happens.

Did you find the Vendor ID (VID) and Product ID (PID) numbers I am looking for?

Customer replied 677 days and 21 hours ago.

Not Available in Device Manager. Should I pull out controller and look?

Customer replied 677 days and 21 hours ago.

Should I be in BIOS?

Picture
Expert:  jnlichen replied 677 days and 21 hours ago.

No, the BIOS will not help. Do you know what controller you are using?

Customer replied 677 days and 20 hours ago.

Linksys LNE100TX v5.1?

Have you attempted to install this driver?

http://homedownloads.cisco.com/downloads/driver/LNE100TX_v5_drivers.zip

Extract, and after extraction, from device manager, click update driver and point to the extracted files. If this is the correct adapter as you have identified, this will enable the adapter.
