Please try this: turn off your computer. Then turn it on, and right after the black screen with white text or the computer company logo disappears, press & release key F8 repeatedly until a menu appears, then you select Safe Mode with Networking (note: if there is no menu, then try the same steps again, but this time, press key F8 a bit earlier). Then login , and check if keyboard is working in Safe mode, and click Start->all programs->accessories->system tools->system restore and restore the computer to any date before this issue has occurred.
If that does not work, please go to Safe Mode with Networking again, then click below and click on download now, to download and install the anti-malware software. Then scan your computer: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
Also, if needed, please connect a USB keyboard and see if it works.
my arrow keys to get to safe mode w/ networking is not working
my arrows to select this feature is not working
ahh, that means the keyboard hardware is bad,
but to confirm,
please turn off the computer and connect a USB keyboard.
hold on a second
i dont have a usb keyboard . i am still unable to type any characters for my password
how do u unlock the keyboard? the function plus wat other key
hello r u there
The keyboard is not working at all , even in Safe MOde menu
So you need to get/borrow a USB keyboard (about $5)
is there anyway to unlock the keyboard
without purchasing a usb keyboard. and what can cause this to happen
The keyboard is not locked
it's just not working.
Please try a USB keyboard to confirm, then you would know that you need to replace the keyboard.
its a brand new laptop
Please try this: turn off the Acer netbook, then turn it on and press at the same time the two keys Alt and F10 when you see the Acer logo appears on the screen to see if it can do a system recovery.
ok hold on
should i do a restore system to factory default settings or restore operating system and retain user data. which one?
do you need any data?
some like music and my pictures
then do : restore operating system and retain user data
ok how long does this backing up progress take
it depends on how much data you have

Oh, take your time. I'll be here.
if my mouse pad works on the laptop does that mean my keyboard may still be intact?
not necessarily, but we'll see.
does the screen that says "setup is starting services" remain on the screen for long
should i restart the computer
how long was it?

should i restart it now...it still not doing anything

it wont allow me to restart. it keeps going back to the same screen "setup is starting services"
press & hold the power button for about 7 seconds.
it goes right back to that same screen again
Can you try safe mode again?
i cant get to safe mode

the arrow keys don't work?
is it possible for you to delete the files?
Do s Alt and F10 again

I'm really sorry, but since it is hardware issue, the keyboard must be replaced
But please confirm if it's hardware issue by using a USB keyboard.
