I lost my user ID / password XXXXX SBG6580 Motorola modem. How can I take it back to original default admin/motorola setting to start settings over again?
Optional Information: Computer OS: Windows XP Browser: IE Already Tried: I haven't started yet. I have the IP log in screen but I lost my user ID password XXX can't access to change the settings.
Hi,
The PASSCODE, used for the CD-ROM installation wizard, is located on the bottom label of your SBG6580.
The wireless PASSCODE is located on the bottom label of your SBG6580.
but let me check the default router login
default Username; admin
default Password; motorola
default router's IP: 192.168.0.1
If that does not work, you can reset it the to original defaults by prressing & holding the RESET button on the rear panel of the router for about 30 seconds, then wait a few minutes.
Now you should be able to login the router with the original default settings.
Please let me know if you have any further question later.
Thanks, That was what I thought. Obviously I wanted to make sure before taking it back to ground zero..
Resetting the router is the only way.
You're welcome.
Thank you.

Viet,
I'm sorry to tell you the suggestion you gave did not get me back to ground zero with my SGB 6580 Modem. Ther is no reset button on the back of unit. However there is a button on the front which is for connecting wireless accessories securely with push button ease. It will not unfortunately reset my modem. I disconnected from the internet cable along with the power and left everything off for 20 minutes. After reconnection of the power and cable it still would not default to original settings for user and password. I guess I'm out of luck for getting this unit to default. Good news it is functioning, but I have an open wireless setting that I would like to secure. Hopefully there is an answer for this model somewhere. Thanks for your help.
Each router has the reset button/hole. Yours is on the back under the USB port. Please click here for the manual, and see page 4 for the illustration.Thanks,-Viet
