Re MS Word 2010 Error Message "Error has occurred:MAPI folder or address book not found"

This error message is continuous when I try to access my Outlook Contacts.

Your insight would be very much appreciated....

click on the windows icon (start button) and in the box where it says,
search programs and files copy and paste

You Answer didn't solve the problem. Same error message.
when did this start happening?
did you upgrade from a different version of outlook or another mail client?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.

From an earlier version of Outlook (intially MS Office 2003) thenit was transferred to my new Gateway early in January 2011 when my previous Dell had a nervous breakdown. The funny thing is in MS Word 2010 (part of the package MS Office Professional) under Mailings the Envelopes function has my Address Book. Not so for all other documents, in respect of which a get the "MAPI" not found error message.

Thanks, XXXXX XXXXX forward to hearing from you.

are you able to create a new contact?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.

In Outlook, yes.

Still getting the same error message in MS Word

ok open up outlook, click on contacts, make sure all of your contacts are listed, now click on the mail merge icon this will give you a list of options, mail merge will only work once, unless you create a contact data file

Nothing so far seems to resolve this vexed issue. I will be away from my PC for 3 hours, but after that I would value your insights.

GorXXXXX XXXXX

open word, then go to mailings, then click start mail merge
then choose mail merge wizard, now choose email messages on the right hand side, then click next, now leave the next setting just how it is "use the current document", then at the bottom click "next select recipients" at the bottom right, now click on the "select outlook contacts", now under that click on the "choose contacts folder" it should now ask from what profile, choose your outlook profile, now it will open a box, click on the "contacts"now you should be able to check mark which contacts you would like to email the document to
Customer: replied 6 years ago.

No change! Same Error Message: ... MAPI folder or address book not found.

Any other suggestions? Incidentally I want MS Word to write letters, not emails. In the current context, however, the same message exclaims itself...

Thank you.

Your instructions were followed to the letter.

Same error message about MAPI, but with a twist - "An operation cannot be completed because of database engine errors."

Curiouser and curiouser...

Your further suggestions? I very much appreciate your responsiveness.
