Windows cannot find C Program Files (x86) Internet Explorer iexplore.exe.

Resolved Question:

Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again.

How do I get my internet explorer 32 bit version to open? The 64 bit version works fine but I need the 32 bit version to work.

This happened after my cpu got infected with the AV8.exe virus/trojan/worm/malware whatever it was it jacked my cpu up. I have removed the av8 program manually but I'm still having issues.

I have spybot SD and AVG 9.0.872. They both find nothing of danger.

What do I need to do to get my 32 bit IE working again?

Thank you,

Joe

Hello, I think your still infected. I need you to download and run ComboFix. If you have any issues with the download, use another computer to download it, and then take a Flash Drive or burn it on a cd/dvd as a data disc to transfer it over.

Please download/save ComboFix and run it to remove these infections. Please follow my instructions.

(IMPORTANT) Click OK to continue on those popup messages from combofix, DO NOT disable the anti-virus, just click OK to go on and you might have 3 different OK boxes to pop up, and if it ask to download the recovery console just click NO.

Try to run COMBOFIX and it will take about 5 minutes to complete tops. The Microsoft Level 2 Techs use this and nothing gets past it. This is a FREE scan and it does not install anything on your computer, it runs from the command prompt!

http://www.combofix.org/downloadlink.php <<<<<<CLICK LINK TO DOWNLOAD

1) Save it to your desktop

2) Run It

When it is done, you will get a notepad with the report. If anything was deleted it will show you at the top like this....

(((((((((((((((((( other deletions )))))))))))))))))))

Here is you a GUIDE just in case you want to see what happens.

After that, close the notepad, restart your computer, and everything should be back to normal.

BEST OF LUCK!
GOD BLESS!

I get "Windows cannot find 'C:\32788RFWJFW\iexplore.exe'.
Expert:  Anthony Brewster replied 3 years ago.
Is this after you click on the link for ComboFix? If yes, download it on another computer and then use a flash drive to transfer it over there to run it.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Okay so I had to uninstall my AVG antivirus program to run combofix. It took awhile to run. I waited for the log to come up before restarting my cpu. Now the 32 bit IE will open but it says "Internet Explorer has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." This just keeps popping up over and over.

Thank you for all the help I hope you can help me fix this for good it's so frustrating.

RESTART COMPUTER & TEST IT!

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
That did not resolve the issue. Do you have any other suggestions? I don't know what that program did to my cpu but this is so lame. You'd think it would be such a simple fix. I will be leaving great feedback for your quick responses and excellent knowledge on windows based systems. The sugesstions you've given so far seem to be getting me closer to fixing the problem in the first question. No worries on accepting the answer when the issue is fixed.

You mentioned before you installed IE9 (beta), is this still what is installed?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Yes and I don't mind uninstalling it if it will fix the issue.
Expert:  Anthony Brewster replied 3 years ago.
I cant promise it will fix it, but I know I have tested it and its faulty in many ways so there are still alot of bugs to be worked out in it so I strongly recommend removing it. After you get it uninstalled and restart the computer, reset IE 1 more time before you try to open it again and tell me what happens...

To uninstall Internet Explorer

The following instructions apply to both Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

  1. Click the Start button

Attachments are only available to registered users.

    Register Here
, type Programs and Features in the search box, and then click View installed updates in the left pane.

  2. Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.

  3. Right-click Windows Internet Explorer 9, click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.

  4. Click one of the following:

    • Restart now (to finish the process of uninstalling Internet Explorer 9, and restore the previous version of Internet Explorer).

    • Restart later (to wait until you shut down or restart your computer).
