I accidentally uninstalled the Toshiba DVD player from my Toshiba

Resolved Question:

I accidentally uninstalled the Toshiba DVD player from my Toshiba laptop - Model# Satellite A505 S6012 that I bought from Fry’s last May.
Now I can‘t play DVD.
Could you please help me and show me how to re-install it?

I assume the CD/DVD drive doesn't show up in Start > Computer?

Okay. Now, please go to Start, type in devmgmt.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In the Device Manager window that comes up, is your CD/DVD drive listed?

I got these msg:

 

A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)

Okay. Now, please right-click on the CD/DVD drive listing there, and select Uninstall.

Done uninstalling, restart your computer and let Windows automatically detect and reinstall the device accordingly.

Let me know if you are able to get your CD/DVD drive to work all right now.

I see. Now, before troubleshooting any further, please go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > Choose a different restore point, then restore your system back to a date and time prior to when you started having this issue with the CD/DVD drive.

Restart thereafter, and let me know if this resolves your issue all right.

If the system restore doesn't complete successfully for some reason, just let me know.

In the restore window, please check if you can see a 'Show more restore points' checkbox; if so, just check it accordingly.

I restored the system to 1/13/2011. Now the dvd player is restored back and it's working now. Thanks.
