BEST OF LUCK!GOD BLESS!
1) Turn OFF the computer first so its all powered down and leave it for 1 minute
2) Turn on the computer press and hold ALT and start tapping/pressing F10 for the Recovery
For your pictures, etc, I would use a flash drive, external hard drive, or dvds. If you dont get them off the hard drive, you will lose everything!
No, you backup your files NOW before you reset it or ALL IS LOST!
All you need to backup is your music, documents, pictures, videos, etc. Then put the computer back to Factory Settings.
For your BACKUP, you can use Windows Easy Transfer if you like...
This might be better for you! Microsoft SkyDrive...
What this does is allows you to add files to the SkyDrive Online. Then you can choose to share them with others or just you! You can download these at any time and delete them when your done.
The backup will, I cant promise you the ALT+F10 will that depends on if Acer gave you the built-in recovery partition which it should be there and intact. If not, you will have to order the recovery disc set from acer or just get rid of Vista all together and go with Windows 7, which on ebay can be bought for right at 99 dollars.
All you can do is try it! Your actually suppose to create your OWN recovory disc set as well. So if you never did that, I think its time you did before you do all of this if you have access to your desktop still. Then we can take it from there. Those instructions I gave you is directly from Acer so you should be good to go.
