Hello, Thank you for contacting JA, I am Cris and will assist you with your question.
Hello
Are you chatting from another PC?
my monitor,my keyboard, and my mouse have quit working what could be wrong?
Is this a desktop or laptop?
desktop
Ok, does the PC turn on?
yes
but you don't get any picture on the screen?
correct,t says no avi signal,no dvi signal, then it says monitor going to sleep.
Ok got it. It looks like your video display card has gone bad and needs replacment.
Your monitor is perfectly fine, the reason you get that message is because it's not picking up video coming from the PC.
it doesn't have a video card it's all built into the motherboard, same for the keyboard ,and same for the mouse
When a monitor does not pick up a signal from the source (PC) then it goes to sleep for energy saving.
You will need to purchase a video card and install into one of the open PCI slots this will bypass the built in video display.
So more thanlikely the mmotherboard is defective?
Not necessarily, usually if the motherboard is bad the PC won't start. However your PC is starting except your not getting a video display. What you can do is go to a local staples, office depot or PC store and buy a video card to install. If the video card still does not give you a picture then is it the motherboard.
But I would first check the video by adding a video card.
what about the keyboard, and the nt working ?They are also built into motherboard?
I meant mouse
How do you know they are not working? You are not receiving video.
Because the lights on the keyboard don'tt light up and the the mouse has a rd light on the bottom and it doesn't come on either.
Ok, then it is the motherboard on the PC that is defective.
How old is the PC?
about one and half years.
Who is the manufacturer?
hewlett packard model # XXXXX
The PC seems to be still fairly new. The warranty might be expired however, HP customer service is very good and may let this qualify under warranty status.
what's the address of the facility I should send it to?
Let me pull up the HP tech support number they will need to pull up your system. They will also ask a few questions and then they will give you the shipping info please give me a min/
Here is the number(NNN) NNN-NNNN/p>
How sure are you percentage wise?
That HP will replace the board?
no that the motherboard is the cause?
about 95% sure, the board isn't sending a signal to your monitor, keyboard or mouse.
