So from LSPFix, you tried below and it did not work?
Please check the box in front of I know what I'm doing. Then click on mdnsNSP.dll. Then click on the right arrow >>. Then click Finish. Then restart the computer and check the Internet.

If that does not work, please run HijackThis again and check the three items below. Then click on Fix checked near the bottom and restart the computer and check.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local
O4 - Startup: MLB.TV NexDef Plug-in.lnk = Michelle\AppData\Local\Autobahn\mlb-nexdef-autobahn.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: GoToAssist - C:\Program Files\Citrix\GoToAssist\514\G2AWinLogon.dll

If that still does not work, please click on Start (the Windows logo), then All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore, and restore your computer to the last date the Internet was working fine.

Please click on Accept if my answer has helped you.

Thanks,
-Viet

I tried running the hijack program again and checking the 3 boxes as you instructed. It didn't fix the problem. I tried restoring, but the only date listed to restore to was today's date. It also did not work. The last time the internet worked was Monday afternoon. How can I restore to that date?
Expert:  Viet - Computer Tech replied 4 years ago.
Hmm, if you have tried all my suggestions and it did not work, can you make sure the option File, then Offline (both from Firefox and Internet Explorer) is not check?

Also, please run HijackThis one more time, and give me the log again.

Thanks,
-Viet

Ok, I verified working offline is not checked. I ran the hijackthis program again and here is the log:

It looks like you ran the HijackThis but you did not delete the 3 items:

Let's try another way: turn off your computer. Then turn it on, and right after the black screen with white text or the computer company logo disappears, press & release key F8 repeatedly until a menu appears, then you select Safe Mode (note: if there is no menu, then try the same steps again, but this time, press key F8 a bit earlier). Then login. (Note: if you cannot get to Safe Mode, then just continue the steps below).

Then please follow exactly below:

1.) Run HijackThis again and click on Do a system scan only. Then select the boxes at the three items below:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local
O4 - Startup: MLB.TV NexDef Plug-in.lnk = Michelle\AppData\Local\Autobahn\mlb-nexdef-autobahn.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: GoToAssist - C:\Program Files\Citrix\GoToAssist\514\G2AWinLogon.dll

Then click on Fix checked near the bottom, and click Yes to confirm.

2.) Also, run the LSPFix file again, then check the box in front of I know what I'm doing. Then click on mdnsNSP.dll. Then click on the right arrow >>. Then click Finish. Then restart the computer and check the Internet.

Please click on Accept if my answer has helped you.

Thanks,
-Viet

I followed all instructions and it still did not fix the problem. Any other suggestions or recommedations?
Expert:  Viet - Computer Tech replied 4 years ago.
Sorry I'm out suggestion. I will leave your question open to other computer experts. Thanks.

Try this, in firefox go to tools, options, advanced, network, settings, and check the no proxy box:

Then
  1. Click on Start button and then click on Run (alternatively just hit Windows + R keys) to open Run command dialog. Type Cmd into the Run box, and hit Enter.
  2. A command prompt DOS window will open. Type ipconfig /flushdns and then press Enter to purge the DNS resolver cache.

Let me know if anything changes....
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Still cannot access the internet. After I entered ipconfig /flushdns it stated "The requested operation requires elevation."

Expert:  Molinari replied 4 years ago.
Ok click the start button and in the search box type cmd, when it comes up, right click on it and choose run as administrator and in the balck window that pops up try it again:

ipconfig /flushdns
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

It stated "Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache"

Still cannot access the internet.

Expert:  Molinari replied 4 years ago.
In hijack this remove these lines:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: AVGRSSTX.DLL C:\PROGRA~1\GOOGLE\GOOGLE~3\GOEC62~1.DLL

Then reboot and see what happens.
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Still does not work.
Expert:  Molinari replied 4 years ago.
Ok, reboot and start tapping F8 until you see a safemode menu, then choose safe mode with networking and see if you can connect in safe mode....
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Ok it did work that time. :) Will we always have to start in that mode?
Expert:  Molinari replied 4 years ago.
No, that means something is loading at normal start up preventing you from connecting.

Before we have to get complicated with it, I must first ask how long has this been happening?

Since Monday evening 10/11/10

Ok, let's try the easy way out first, and when it's time, picjk the 10th as the date to restore to....

  1. Close and save any documents that you may have open.

  2. Click on the Start button to open your Start Menu. The Start button looks like this:

  3. When the Start Menu opens click on the All Programs menu option.

  4. Click once on the Accessories Start Menu group.

  5. Click once on the System Tools Start Menu group.

  6. Click once on the System Restore icon. After you click on the icon, if a User Account Control window opens you should click on the Continue button.

You will now be at the System Restore screen as shown below in Figure 1. From this screen you can specify the restore point that you would like to restore.

If it connects, you can add back the services and startup files one by one using msconfig, then you can narrow down and eliminate the program or service causing the problem....
